Arts & Entertainment District For Midtown!
HOUSTON, TX. (May 1, 2012) – The Midtown Management District is hosting a special community Public Meeting to introduce and discuss the proposed “Arts & Entertainment District (AED)” designation on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. The meeting is open to the public and will be held at the Central Bank Community Room located at 2214 Milam at Webster, Houston, TX 77002.
Recognizing that a thriving creative sector is a powerful economic development tool, the Texas Commission on the Arts (TCA) can designate cultural districts in cities across Texas. The AED designation is an example of one such district. The outcomes of cultural districts extend far beyond the arts and benefit all members of a community.
“The Arts and Entertainment District designation will put Midtown on the map, not only as a center for the arts, but also as a tourist destination bringing thousands of visitors to Midtown each year. Visitors who will spend their dollars at Midtown boutiques, Midtown restaurants, and Midtown nightlife,” says Matt Thibodeaux, Executive Director of the Midtown Management District.
Join us for this special presentation and learn about the many benefits an AED designation will have on the Midtown community. Hear about how it will benefit Midtown businesses, about how it will improve property values in the neighborhood and much more.
